On Sunday, October 6th, 2024, The Somers Volunteer Fire Department hosted a large scale Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) Drill. This drill simulated a motor vehicle accident with a subject trapped involving an occupied full size school bus vs passenger vehicle.

There were 16 ambulances that participated in this training. The first arriving Somers units were met with nearly 30 injured patients. Somers and Mutual Aid units got all patients treated and transported in under an hour.

The Officers and Members of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank ALL who participated in this drill, as always it was a pleasure to work alongside everyone.

We'd also like to thank the following who helped make this drill a success:

🔹Somers Central School District for providing the school bus.

🔹Somers Super Deli for the delicious food.

🔹Somers Troop 228 and Troop 376 for providing the scouts/patients.

🔹Sals Towing & Recovery for providing the tow for setup and cleanup.
