Today was another busy day for the Somers Volunteer Fire Department.
Today, we responded to a total of 3 motor vehicles accidents, multiple fire alarms, numerous EMS calls, and a dryer fire.
🚨First MVA
Location: Route 6
Description: On Friday morning, Somers Fire and Ems was dispatched to Route 6 for a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries. Assistant Chief Car 2442 arrived on location and requested fire police to the scene to assist with closing one lane of traffic due to the nature of the call. Patients were assessed and transported to a local hospital by Somers EMS. EMS Captain 8011 and Ambulance 80B1 stood by in quarters for any additional EMS calls in town. Somers Units operated for approximately 2 hours before returning to service.

🚨Second and Third MVA
Location: Route 118/Overhill Road and Route 118/Meadow Park Road
Description: Somers Fire and EMS was dispatched to initially Route 118/Overhill Road for a motor vehicle accident with reported air bag deployment. Engine 186 arrived on location within minutes and reported a two car motor vehicle accident. Shortly after, a second motor vehicle accident was reported up the road near Meadow Park Road. At both accidents, patients refused medical attention (RMA) to not be transported to a hospital. Units operated for approximately 1 hour before returning to service.

🚨During this time, there were numerous Fire and EMS calls that kept our volunteers and paid staff busy.
🚨Dryer Fire
Location: Lincoln Hall
Description: Somers Fire was dispatched to Lincoln Hall for originally a Commercial Alarm. Car 2441 arrived on location and staff notified the Chief that smoke was coming from the rear of the structure. All fire units responded to the rear of the structure and found white smoke coming out of the basement. Upon the investigation, Somers units found an active dryer fire with negative extension to the rest of the structure. Units quickly extinguished the fire and operated for approximately 1 hour before returning to service.
