The Somers Volunteer Fire Department responded to a total of 15 calls for service today.
We responded to a motor vehicle fire, automatic fire alarms, numerous medical calls and a rescue in the woods.
🚒MOTOR VEHICLE FIRE
Location: Route 100
Date/Time: Tuesday, May 27th, 2025 at 4:48 am
Description: At 4:48 a.m. this morning, Somers Fire was dispatched to the area of Route 100 for a reported motor vehicle fire. Upon arrival, units confirmed a fire involving a garbage truck. The fire originated inside the body of the truck. The driver was able to offload most of the contents before fire units arrived. Additional fire units arrived shortly after and extinguished both the fire inside the truck, and the materials that had been removed. Units operated for approximately 2 hours before returning to service.

🚑RESCUE IN THE WOODS
Location: Trail behind Lincoln Hall
Date/Time: Tuesday, May 27th, 2025 at 6:42 pm
Description: At 6:42 pm, Somers Fire and EMS was dispatched to the trails behind Lincoln Hall for a dirt bike accident. Somers FD utilized our UTV (U-89) in order to gain access to the patient over a mile into the woods successfully. Units operated for approximately an hour before returning to service.
